The Resort
The Ranch at Angel Fire is the largest privately held property within Angel Fire Resort. Here is more information on the Resort itself.
From the Resort — “Angel Fire Resort began in 1966, as a small ski destination in Northern New Mexico. We are proud to have grown into a four-season resort offering a memorable Rocky Mountain experience for families, outdoor enthusiasts and groups. Everything from skiing and snowboarding for all ages and abilities, golf, tennis, hiking and lake activities, to the best Bike Park in the West, Angel Fire Resort is your destination for family fun.”
“For years this place has been a hidden gem for Texas families to come up and ski our 2,000 vertical feet of great cruising runs. However, over the past few summers the resort has invested in adding major events, capital improvement projects and new summer activities to increase its year-round popularity,” — Spencer Weimer, director of marketing, Angel Fire Resort.
New York Times article highlights the virtues of Angel Fire and notes the Texas connection: “It’s all about being in nature here,” said Jack Fuehr, a retired executive and second-home owner from Dallas who said he often spied bears and heard bugling elk from his windows. Like Mr. Fuehr, about 50 percent of Angel Fire’s second-home owners hail from the Lone Star State, giving the town the nickname of Little Texas. The area is both closer and less expensive than Colorado, and Texans remain unfazed by driving 11 hours from Dallas or 14 from Houston.
It seems the secret is getting out of Texas, and Angel Fire’s star is on the rise nationally.
Angel Fire was recently named “America’s Most Affordable Ski Town” by Realtor.com and the “Last Affordable Ski Town in America” by Teton Gravity Research. 2019 marked a third year of record growth for the community.
